Besides the tours included on the trip (see Tour Packages for complete description), there are some optional & extra cost tours that can be arranged directly at the Lodge:

Turtle Nesting Tour: During turtle season from July to September, night tours to observe this wonder of nature are available. Tour starts at the beach in front of Mawamba Lodge and is lead by a local guide. Tour length is 2 hours. Please read the "Green Turtle" section in this site for more information.

Fishing Tour (Go Fishing): Feel the power of nature. The fight between technique and instinct. Come and fish with us in our fully equipped boats and feel your strength. Fishing is available in site, upon request and depending on weather conditions. Some of the fish species you can find in the fresh waters of the canals are small snook and tarpon, viejas, machacas, among others. The fishing tour includes for captain, boat for 2 fishermen, necessary equipment and tackle. Minimum fishing time: 02 hours.

Sunset Tour: Discover the amazing sunset, while you have an incredible tour on the canal, on our floating ranch.

Kayak Tour: Enjoy nature while paddling through the Tortuguero canals.

Mawamba Massage: Tired, stressed? Let some expert hands transport you to a world of peace by the side of the canal. It is the glory.

Early Morning Tour: Wake up very early in the morning and enjoy the wildlife area since the day starts ! See many of the m ore than 300 birds living in the area such as egrets, anhingas, kingfishers, the green and great blue herons, jacanas, hawks and kites. Other possible animals you can see will be iguanas, caimans, basilisk lizards, fishing bats, three-toed sloths, monkeys such as the howler, white-faced and spider monkeys.
