Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica

Explore Tortuguero, land of incredible biological diversity; where at night, from July to September, impressive Green Sea Turtles (Chelonia Mydas) nest on the beach at Tortuguero, the most important site in the occidental half of the Caribbean for the nesting of this amazing turtles.

A tropical sanctuary for more than 300 different species of birds and natural habitat for an amazing array of wildlife; such as monkeys, crocodiles and iguanas, among many others. Discover the lush vegetation that abounds in the midst of the Rainforest.

Tortuguero, is a navigable network of lake and canals that cross the National Park from Southeast to Northwest and accessible only by boat or air. The are no roads to get here!

The area is part of the ecosystem known as "very humid Tropical Rain forest", where rainfall averages 197 inches (5.000 mm) per year, but it can go up to 236 inches (6.000 mm) in some parts. Elevation goes from sea level to 1.020 fee (311 meters) in the Tortuguero Hill (Sierpe Hill). Climate is warm and humid, average annual temperature is 80oF (36oC).
